چکیده

Specimens of heart from 30 subjects with persistent truncus arteriosus were studied for the nature and sites of coronary arterial origin. These factors were related to the sinuses of the truncus valve. Bicuspid truncal valve was observed in six cases (20%) and tricuspid in 21 cases (70%). Single coronary artery was observed in four cases (three with tricuspid and one with quadricuspid truncal valves). In three other cases the coronary arteries arose separately but near one another.

Phonocardiographic Findings in Persistent Truncus Arteriosus * BENJAMIN

Persistent truncus arteriosus is characterized by a single arterial trunk arising from the heart and supplying the systemic, pulmonary, and coronary circulations. There are remnants neither of an atretic pulmonary artery nor aorta (Lev and Saphir, 1942; Collett and Edwards, 1949). Despite excellent clinical reviews (Anderson, Obata, and Lillehei, 1957; Tandon, Hauck, and Nadas, 1963; McCue et a...

Truncus arteriosus with aortic arch interruption: cardiovascular magnetic resonance findings in the unrepaired adult

Truncus arteriosus (TA) is a rare congenital condition defined as a single arterial vessel arising from the heart that gives origin to the systemic, pulmonary and coronary circulations. We discuss the unique case of a 28 year-old female patient with unrepaired TA and interruption of the aortic arch who underwent cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR).

Absence of anatomic origin from heart of pulmonary arterial supply.

Among certain patients with cardiovascular malformations, a common phenomenon is a ventricular septal defect and absence of anatomic origin of the pulmonary arterial supply from the heart. In this situation, true pulmonary arteries may be present or absent. In the latter case, the pulmonary arterial supply comes through bronchial arteries. When true pulmonary arteries are present, the left and ...

Truncus arteriosus communis with survival to the age of 46 years: case report.

Truncus arteriosus communis is an uncommon congenital cardiovascular malformation characterized by a single arterial trunk that arises from the base of the heart and gives rise to the coronary, pulmonary and systemic arteries. The prognosis in truncus arteriosus is very poor without surgical correction. The median age at death without surgery ranges from 2 weeks to 3 months, with 85 % mortality...
